Muslim Woman Faced Discrimination on an American Flight
A Muslim Woman Faced Discrimination on an American Flight. The incident happened with Tahera Ahmad’s who took flight from Chicago to Washington, D.C., last week. The incident reported against an attendant of the flight who refused to give an unopened can of Coca-Cola to Tahera Ahmad and telling her it could be used as a weapon. Tahera, a chaplain at Northwestern University said that for hygienic reasons she requested a closed can of soda. In reply to this, the attendant said no one has consumed from this can. Tahera told her that it is fine she would really prefer it for the hygienic reasons. An attendant said as this is against their policy so they cannot serve unopened can. Tahera said that same flight attendant had served an unopened beer can to another passenger and when she confronted, “the attendant said it is against our policy to give people an unopened can beverages because they may use it as a weapon”. When Tahera told that it’s discriminating against her. The attendant said, “Its because you would use it as a weapon”. “At that time I was in shock and almost in tears,” she told. United Airlines initially think the incident is just as a misunderstanding. But today they issued an apology to Tahera Ahmad for what happened to her.
