Agrasen ki Baoli- One of the most haunted places in India: People of ancient India used to worship different elements like fire, air, earth, sun, water. For the worship of water, they had created a temple, step well, reservoir, etc. The Baoli on Hailey Road near Connaught Place Delhi India is one of the ancient step-wells created. It is about 60 meters long and 15 meters wide traditional shaped with 103 steps made up of red stone. Although some part of Baoli was permanently immersed into the water there exist three-floor which visible above the water.
There is no historical record of the creation of Agrasen ki Baoli but it is assumed that this stepped wall was initially created by King Agrasen from the epic era of Mahabharat which was rebuilt by the Agrawal community in the 14th century. Although it was created to reserve water for worship. But now it’s almost dried up and became the house of bats and pigeons. With a great historical background, this public place even ticketless entry not attracting visitors. Actually, Agrasen ki Baoli is said to be one of the most haunted places in India.
Agrasen ki Baoli-One of the most haunted places in India
Most people who visit Agrasen ki Baoli feel that something invisible following them. The echoing of bets living there adds fuel to the fire. It is believed that the Baoli was the house of an evil spirit from ancient times. And calls people to offer their lives and raises the water level. It is also claimed that the water of this Baoli was black and dirty because of the presence of some evil supernatural power there.
All these may be bull shit but I think in all these haunted stories this historical step well losses its importance and most of the people refuse to go there. The stepwell which was worshiped in ancient times has no importance today.
